Media & Brand
Official brand assets, the story behind the logo, press materials, and media contact information for the Marscoin Foundation.
The Logo
The Marscoin logo was designed and volunteered by Tymen Muller, a 3D artist, game designer, and illustrator with over a decade of experience in 3D graphics and product design. Tymen also contributed launch animation work for the original Marscoin project in 2013.
The design features a golden coin with Mars terrain texture, orbital elements (moons), and a bold "M" at center — combining the iconography of currency with the planetary identity of Mars. The warm golden tones evoke both the Martian surface and the value the coin represents.
Logo design: Tymen Muller (ArtStation · Patreon)
Mars imagery: Bryan Versteeg
Concept & direction: Lennart Lopin (2013)

Key Facts
Marscoin® is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency conceived in 2013 and launched on January 1, 2014, for the first permanent human settlement on Mars. Built on Scrypt Proof of Work with 2-minute block times and a fixed supply of approximately 39.57 million coins (39,569,900 MARS), Marscoin is designed for the unique constraints of interplanetary finance — where a 4–24 minute communication delay with Earth makes centralized banking impossible. The project includes the Martian Republic, a blockchain-based governance platform enabling citizen registration, democratic voting, and transparent resource management. Over 1,000,000 MARS have been donated to The Mars Society. Marscoin is a registered trademark of the non-profit Marscoin Foundation LLC (Osprey, FL). More at marscoin.org.
